True Story?

I'm curious, is this a work of fiction?

It is supposedly "based" on a true story. How true, I don't know.
(I didn't care for the movie enough to google out the details..:-))

I know that this is written a bit past the ???, but someone just sent me this flick, and I was surprised--since I'd never heard of it! Well, it is based on a "true story," and if you type in "Marita Lorenz," you will be able read up on her bio. and story of claiming to come to Havana, be invited/hired as Castro's secretary to translate his German letters--which I found a bit odd in the flick that her character was not identified as a "German translator," nor did she speak Spanish. So, Lorenz claims that Castro basically put her in fatigues, pinned lieutenant bars on her lapels, and she did less and less translating and became one of his many lovers--although Celia Sanchez was really the person in charge of Fidel and the organization of the new government. Lorenz claims she became pregnant, woke up in NY hospital w/o baby--was told that Castro had the baby aborted, and the flick does somewhat depict what Lorenz claims. After Cuba, she apparently met the then ousted Venuezeulan President in Miami and had a baby with him...So, if you read up on her, there's a TON of other info. about her story including info. about the JFK assassination, and some other really wild stuff! Is it all true??? Who knows, but if your interested in reading about yet another player in the nearly fifty-year-old Cuban Revolution, which still seems to spark interest (well, it's an interesting story from many angles, in my opinion), type in her name and you'll find the info. And if you're REALLY interested in more info. about that period, type in, "Lisa Howard, Journalist," and there's even more info. about U.S./Cuba relations! Most of this info. came out after documents were recently uncovered and made available to the public...y'know, the ones with all those black lines through them!
