Need Assistance?

This game has been out awhile, but if anyone needs assistance, I will do my best to help you... I love the game, have beaten it in every way possible, and know the purpose of every item. If you need help, please feel free to e-mail me:

Also, feel free to post on the board, though I can't assure I will check it regularly.

I have recently rekindled my interest in these games, KQVI being one of which I haven't beaten. I may just email you in the months to come. I have vague memories of being stuck somewhere in a land of playing cards... or something like that. Reminded me of Alice in Wonderland.

Also, is KQVIII worth my time and effort looking for?

reply

I haven't personally played KQVIII, but if you really enjoy the classic graphics adventure games, i wouldn't reccomend it... KQVIII strays far from it. It utilizes quality graphics and focuses more on action then puzzles. Again, I haven't played it. It's just what I've heard.

Good luck on your KQVI pursuits... I think you'll find the adventure most enjoyable.

hey there. i just (stupidly) bought a peice of crap re-release of the kings quest series and i find that i am unable to play kq4 because they ask questions about the manual and you have to answer the question right in order to play it. in the release, they did a crappy package of the games and they didn't provide a printed manual. there's some sort of manual that came with the game in a pdf file, but since they ask a different question everytime and there's no way of finding the answer with the game on, i can't play it. does anybody know of a patch, or any other solution for this? i'm so angry with sierra for putting together such a crappy package.

"Ah, Mr. Seltzer?"
"Ah, it's Setzer."
"No...I think it's Seltzer."
Sigh."Waddya want Homer..."

reply

just keep the pdf file open and alt-tab between the game and the pdf file to look at it

reply

or print it out. If you dont want to print the entire thing, just print selections of it. But yeah, alt tab-ing is fine.

The manual the collection provides will not help you. I suggest looking up the manual online - that's how I did it. My frustration is with VI and VII - VII has a fault where you can't give anything to the guy in the faux shop, and the patch sierra provided doesn't fix it. I tried everything but restarting it and trying the whole thing over again.

I'm having serious trouble with King's Quest VI. I can't get the bookworm to talk to me, and since he won't, I can't get the creature on the Isle of Beast to show up. Help! I tried clicking on the books in the middle half a dozen times, and I tried talking to the pile of books, but the bookworm keeps popping out and repeating the same things each time. What am I doing wrong?

reply

Just a shot in the dark... have you already talked to the bookkeeper (Ali) about getting the spell book on the counter? If not, he'll say he needs a rare book to exchange for the spellbook. Then when Alexander uses his hand on the nearest book pile, he'll talk to the bookworm about "a rare book". Then the dangling paticiple will be on the isle of the beast.

reply

You have to get the sentence out of the water in the Isle of Wonders before the dangling participle shows up.

Green cheese? GREEN CHEESE?! THAT'S NOT GREEN CHEESE, THAT'S THE MOON!

I have played and beat King's Quest's 1-5 but never played anything after that. I really need to check this game out, I always felt those old King's Quest games were tons of fun and I know times have changed but I've heard 6 & 7 are worth checking out but not 8. Do you still use that email since this post was 8 years ago?
