I was so confused at the part where Jessie or whoever that blonde girl was, was helping Dex's wound. What was she staring at? Why did his torse look white?....

Dex was always late for the bus because he didn't like to shower with others after P.E. I guess the thing on his chest was a burn of some kind that he had had for a while.

It look like scar tissue from a previous tough burn.
