i caught the beginning of it channel surfing and decided to tivo it... now that im watching it. my heart is in my throat. i expected him to catch her when she was cutting her hair... and then when he came home after she missed his ceremony.. ugh.
i dont know how the rest of the movie is yet.. but i keep anticipating her getting caught and freaks me out.

It is a tense movie agreed! I won't *spoil* anything don't worry, but the ending to the film is actually better than the book's ending.
The book tells a lot more backstory about Fran and Bobby though. Its a good read.

i just finished it...
and wouldve liked to know more about what happened between robert and bobby. why did he call his mom after five years.. did he go live with her then? what happened to bobby. how did he disappear from his job and family and life back home? i wouldve liked to see him get what he deserved.

I think Robert was only gone about 3 years, as her child Grace Ann looked about that age. Robert would be about 14 or 15 I guess. I wondered myself why Robert took SO LONG TO CALL HIS MOM! I mean, didn't he know she missed him? Maybe Bobby told him she died, but its hard to believe he'd buy that.
In the book, there is a different ending. *spoilers ahead for the book*
In the book, Frannie never finds Robert. She suspects he calls a couple times, but he hangs up. Its very sad. Fran even confronts her ex-mother in law, but to no avail.
Its never explained how Bobby escapes and hides with Robert though.
