The ending *SPOILERS*

The following contains SPOILERS to the ending of the movie, DO NOT READ unless you really want to know about the ending.

Ok so heres my question/comment

So if Patty was the actual girl in the elevator I dont quite understand her statement "You fell in love with another girl in the elevator, I'm not that girl" (I fell in love with you), "No you didnt, I tried to make you fall in love with me, but you were in love with her"

Explain how that would work. According to the movies plotline he had no idea it was her, there was no signs whatsoever. Wait wait its surfacing, so he slept with someone not knowing her name, meets another girl (or "a girl") hes supposed to get to know this girl and while shes trying to make him fall in love he denies it because..........?? ok I dont have the answer.

Heres the short question: Describe a time where a girl can have a counterpart but they are completely the same yet the guy has no idea (LOL make sense?)

Ok, allow me to explain.

When Patty said that Matt fell in love with "another girl" and not her, she meant that she was upset that Matt didn't figure out that it was her. When they first met... again afterwards, he was uncomfortable around her. To quote J from MIB, it's like she was "coming on to him like some drunken prom date." Patty knew that she had a bit of a reputation of being sexually active. A "slut" in high school, now known as a "good time" in college. This made her very insecure. She was always afraid what guys thought about her. This insecurity was made even worse by Crick, her abusive boyfriend.

I mentioned in another post about how Matt described the night in the elevator and how that "cloak of darkness" must've concealed his usual romantic retardation. I think he felt more relaxed because neither of them knew who the other person was. I believe that Patty felt the exact same way. That's why they both connected so well with each other.

But Patty felt that Matt was more in love with the mystery than the girl. She tried to let Matt get to know her as a person and it didn't work. She kept coming on to him and it freaked him out. He kept avoiding her. And by the time he figured out she was the mystery girl, she was upset, and very rightly so. Because this was the same guy who fell in love with her at the beginning of the movie, and is now avoiding her like the plague. That's what she meant. It wasn't some alter ego or anything like that.

Hope this helps.

see thats what I'm saying. He had no idea it was her. Perhaps you, who have seen the movie were there signs noting that she was the one all along? LOL I have no problem of watching the movie again (it will be my third time) but I didnt see any signs while they were hanging out to determine it couldve been her.

Unless................it mightve been the way Patty was kissing his chest while he had nipple problems?

Besides the movie aspect of it all; I guess I'm in a pretend state of mind. What if that happened to me or one of us, what if we had a one night stand in the dark or blind folded then was off to determine which person it couldve been. At the end of the movie (100 girls) Patty made that comment in which can result in real life events where perhaps we couldnt figure it out.

But oh well at least he got the girl and perhaps we would get the girl in the end too. I dont know (my first post isnt on this "reply" screen so now I cant see what I wrote to begin with hehe

True. I think the only hints in the movie that it was her was that Patty seemed to connect more to Matt than any of the other girls, and there always seemed to be some "love song" music playing in the background when they were together. Of course, I wouldn't know. Since this movie is so hard to find I assumed I would never get to see it and just read the synopsis. So the ending was spoiled for me before I got a chance to watch it.

Perhaps she didn't really give Matt much of a chance to find out it was her. She wanted him to fall in love with her like he did in the elevator. She wanted him to look at her the way a boy looks at his birthday present, as she said.

But it does add some re-watchability to the movie. Once you find out it was her, you can watch those scenes through Patty's perspective and really feel bad for her when Matt turns her down. I remember watching their sex scene one time and heard Matt's narration about how it was nothing special, just fun, and I wanted to scream at him, "IT WAS SPECIAL TO HER, YOU IDIOT!!!" But then again, I already knew so I shouldn't judge.
