How come Dragon Ball Z has two TV entries?

Just been having a look on the new IMDB Top 250 TV Shows list and I notice that there are two entries of Dragon Ball Z, not including Dragon Ball Z Kai.

What's the reason for this? Ain't they technically the same show?

reply

I see what you did there.

Yeah, I noticed I somehow mistakenly did a double post so I removed the other one. Anyway, anyone want to clear up how come there are two 2 Dragon Ball Z's?

reply

I have no idea. They've done the same thing with Dragon Ball.

Only reason I can think of is 96-2003 is clearly Cartoon Network and Toonami. They had the rights during that time.

89-96 was probably another program block, I know it use to come on Fox. I remember friends of mine saying they have seen it all already. That was when I just started to watch on Toonami.

One in japanese, one in english = 2 version ..with different episodes, dubbs !!!

reply

Well if it's the same show, having it separate from the Japanese version makes no sense. I think the two need to be merged together.

THIS

Erm, when people say "This" on it's own with nothing else, what does that mean in forum context?

reply

Change the way you view thread from what you have to "thread" then you can see who they were referring to when they say "This". Basically another way of them saying they agree.

Hello.

The thing is, they are NOT the same show. The english version, that was broadcasted in USA on TV, was edited, has less episodes (here on IMDb has been updated because FUNimation released the so-called "uncut" DVDs), but as a TV Show, the English version is totally different.

I had the same question at first, until I realized how different the USA version was from the show I grew up watching (both DB and DBZ).

This question was answered by IMDb CEO Col Needham here http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/thread/247303473?d=247364316#247364316, so if you guys want to convince him, go ahead.

I know it's confusing and, as a Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z/Dragon Ball Super contributor (japanese only), it is sad to see the japanese boards of DB/DBZ abandoned, but in the end I get used to it and now I actually think is better, for research and facts.

Greetings!

Please excuse my terrible redaction, english is not my native language

Yes for Macross-Mospaeda/Robotech as it was edited to such extent to suit the US market but not with every other anime series

I watch movies that feature only three cats
