Some of the props, costumes, and actors feel anachronistic

Some of the actors look like catalog models (besides Kristin I mean) and it doesn't look like anyone bothered to style them to the 1940s (the hotel clerk with the don johnson five o'clock shadow and what appeared to be a bowling shirt). One actor in a village scene appeared to be wearing glasses straight out of Shoppers Optical. And was it just me but was that sandal we see when the kid's crying out in the rain a foam rubber drugstore flipflop? Foam rubber?!
