Question (Spoilers)

Why did Kondo decide to have Kano kill Tashiro? Maybe to have Kano show that he is loyal to the clan and is willing to kill his so-called lover? Any other speculations as to why Kondo made this decision?

reply

My theory is that Kondo is, like so many others, infatuated with Kano. Ignore Hijikata when he says otherwise. However, Kondo's infatuation manifests itself in a way that's unusual. He receives his satisfaction from ordering Kano to kill, either out of emotional sadism against Kano, or because he senses Kano's blood lust and pleases him this way.
