Why did Mahree just go downstairs and look through their things?

She goes and snoops in a stranger's home? Why? Why did humans create this stigma between other races? Just because you're different from another person? Today it's between gays and straights. Muslims and Christians and atheists. The minority of people who commit crimes within each group get singles out and considered the majority. This is where stereotypes start. What is the psychology behind this? Humans are a violent, hateful type of creature.

It wasn't like she was looking through finances...etc she was reading books. Since she could not sleep, she wanted to read.

It came from religion. Read the Autobiography of Fredrick Douglass. The same reasons why ISIS is alive now and thinking everyone should be praying to Allah, was similar to English thinking they were doing Blacks a favor by making them slaves. Apparently, they had some kin of cult knockoff of Christianity, where the south thought that to keep Blacks from committing sin, they should be put into slavery, to save themselves from themselves.

The other reason is just pure uneducatedness. If you do not know much about a certain ethnic group and all you see about them is how much of a ruckus they cause, it is easier to believe that is all they are about, instead of looking into it.
