The ultimate The Land Before Time ripoff (and vice versa)?

This is obviously inspired by The Land Before Time. On the other hand, the rest of the TLBT movies (and the TV series) came out after this show, and they seem to be partial ripoffs of some of the episodes from this show.

What do you think?

reply

More likely just paralell thinking and the standard trend back then for kids as the protagonists in most cartoons. It also shares some elements with Cro. Though Cro suffered the full brunt of the FCC mandates of the late 80s early 90s.

In a way its a prehistoric version of Kimba. Though only in the vaugest sense.

In this double feature, can either of these two shows abaout kid dinosaurs come off like they don't belong in the stone age?

reply

Had both come out today I think you'd be onto something, but since they both came out in the 80's where production took much longer on animated films and shows I don't think that's the case, but there are some similarities between them and even as a kid I was under the impression Dink was a copycat of TLBT...

I have an unbelievably long ignore list.

Only Dink and Flapper come close to matching Land Before Time (Little Foot, and Petrie respectivley), and that's only because of their species. Both this and LBT placed a Tyranosaurus as the villain, but let's face it, of course you're going to do that. So no, it's not a rip off.
