I like most of this movie.

Although the romantic crap bugs me the score and the aerial photography is just stunning. Some of the aerial shots are beautiful.
It's like Top Gun. The aerial shots, stunning. The soundtrack excellent. The lovey Dover crap, boring as hell.

What aerial photography?
Other than Rafe's Dad's biplane at the begining and end of the film, all the "aerial photography" was computer generated.

The computer generated aerial shots are what I'm talking about. They were stunning. Sorry I should have made it clear what I meant.

Yeah... the "look" of many of the larger scale shots, most notably with the doolittle raid, was very visually stunning.

Unfortunately the actual "action" of many of these shots, mainly with the dogfighting between Japanese and Rafe and Danny, as well as the strafings and other attacks by the Japanese against the Navy ships.... were as realistic as a cartoon as far as that goes. They maneuvered and flew in ways physically impossible for real aircraft.

CG, you're doing it again. You're being a bad boy again! We talked about this.

The OP is absolutely right, the aerial photography is stunning and quite spectacular. And yes, REAL. Maybe you don't seem to understand what 'aerial photography' is. Have you heard the term "background plates"? If you do know all that stuff, then you would know why the absolute BEST helicopter pilots in the world were hired for this movie. The amount of real, epic aerial shots in Pearl Harbor is staggering.

That's what you get to learn when you buy the Vista Series Special Edition DVD of the movie. And when you listen to ALL audio commentaries. Something you, as a regular hater of the movie, will never do. Thus, you'll never have the information that fans of the movie have.

I agree. I don't like the love stuff as well. They were going for a Titanic vibe and IMO it didn't quite work out.

BUT............strictly as an epic action movie, 'Pearl Harbor' is SOLID. No doubt about it. I still consider the 40-minute attack sequence to be one of the greatest action sequences ever. Very, very, VERY few directors can pull that off.

I totally agree with you 100%. I've watched Pearl Harbour again recently and I was in awe of how beautiful the aerial scenes were.
