I've done a favor for anyone who likes this movie

Go to http://www.geocities.com/nwgmovie/index.html and click on the link on that page (it's in the middle of a paragraph), and you will come to the transcript of the movie, which I typed up myself (took me seven hours). A special feature of the transcript is that if you click on any of the underlined links, you will see screencaptures from the part of the movie you are reading (including several of Cecil Sweeney's affectionate expressions as he looks at Mooney. I am getting ready to update the transcript right now with pictures of "the kiss" (you fans will know what I'm talking about), and I have to correct one link, as well.

Hey, many thanks for doing the transcript. I love this movie and it's such a bummer that there are no subtitles.

Would you happen to know if there is any place to buy the song "Whiz Kids" as performed in the movie? You seem to be a wealth of information on this film.

Very appreciated!

reply

The artist in question is Ashley MacIssac, but I don't know where to find Whiz Kids. You can try searching on Ares or Kazaa, or whatever peer-to-peer program, or perhaps Amazon.com or eBay.com has one of his albums for sale (though I don't know if Whiz Kids would be on it or not).

Try going to http://www.garageband.com/song?|pe1|S8LTM0LdsaShYVG1 or if that doesn't work, go to www. garageband.com , clicking on "search", typing in 98 points, and that should take you there.

whiz kids was written and preformed by Matt Minglewood of North Sydney. I'm not sure which album of his it's on though. If you want to see it live he preforms every new years either at the Rack N' Roll tavern or JT's pub in New Waterford.

Hi,

It was on today and i loved it. Thanks for all the work you did. I would never have thought of that.

reply

dzerted_island_grrrl, I think you're crazy in the best way possible. Thanks so much for all your hard work .

Thank you so much for the transcript. I love this movie!

reply

sweet:p thank you so much... im hooked to this movie, that must have taken forever:)

reply

<sheepish>Weeellll.... Actually, I type around 90 words per minute, so the actual transcribing itself only took about five hours of work (the screencapping and adding the links, and refining the spelling and whatnot, took a little longer).

Thank you very much for all your hard work! Although I think it is a mortal sin to not have a screencap of Zach Fraser (Meeker) with his shirt off ;).

reply

Well, maybe just for you, I might go back to the library and check the movie out again, since you thanked me so nicely. Mortal sin? Or Venial?

ha ha! ha! That would be AWESOME, if you could. Mortal sin... venial sin... either one... Zach Fraser without his shirt is definatley screen cap worthy ;)

hey there, my name is Pat Joyce, i played Darcy Benzoa in this movie.. first of all, let me say thank you for being so appreciative of this movie and making an actual transcript of it, i didn't know there were such big fans of this! i lived in dartmouth when i made the movie at about 8 years old. i am 17 now, graduating and live in new brunswick, where fewer people know about the movie. so again, it is a huge honour that you took the time to make this transcript. also i have a few minor corrections, just if you want to use them. when the benzoa's are getting out of the cab, the jar holds peppers and assorted vegetables, not intestines (tara spencer-nairn called them "regetables" to my eight-year-old delight).. also mrs. benzoa drops something and asks me to pick it up, just if you want to put that in there. also, in the graveyard scene, we were throwing eggs, not rocks.. we both missed completely with every one haha.. also the blood in the fake car accident is ketchup (even in the movie, ketchup wasn't what we used as make up for blood haha).. other than those, which aren't even really any big corrections, that looks like a very solid transcript.. thanks again for taking the time, it's good to know that a little small-town movie from cape breton actually has a decent fanbase.

dzerted_island_grrrl, I too want to let you know how much I appreciate your love for this amazing film. It's possibly my favourite film of all time, and the only one I watch 2-3 times a year. It's so charming, touching and hilarious all at once.

pat_joyce, nice to hear from you too! You were absolutely adorable in the film.
