The version that I downloaded from http://www.the-underdogs.org doesn't go all the way through the game, but it goes halfway and then crashes to ask for a CD. does anybody know anywhere else I can download it?

Piracy is bad. So you definitely do not want to go on a p2p network to seek this game. In particular, Limewire would be a very bad choice.
shareAnd in perticularry you DON'T want to google for "french kiss abandonware" and find out that theese BAD BAD pirates have an original CD iso in their collection. It is illegal to download any of this stuff unless you OWN AN ORIGINAL CD.

The op was just confused because they found it available to download, and naïvely assumed that it meant it was freeware. If anything, they will renew their rights to it now that they are making a Neverhood movie.
