Small Town Ecstasy(documentary)
Party Girl
Rave

Ok I'll tell you another of my faves. "Rise" it's about the US rave scene and Disco Donnie. Ok so it's not Human Traffic, it's more of a documentary. But it a lot of fun... :-))))

I love this movie. I've been in the scene for 6 years. The afterhours scene in Dallas is bad ass!

How about Sample People with Kylie Minogue? Havent been able to see it yet (australian release) but I think its centered at a rave.

"Vibrations"
not a great movie, but it's got Lords of Acid and Utah Saints, and the ravers are portrayed as good people, not crazy drug fiends. [edit] Some of the live acts were cut out on the DVD version, allegedly. Not a great loss, since they only showed them briefly.

"Stark Raving Mad"
a rave is used as cover to break into a vault. Since the movie was made in Vancouver, a city where raves attract more cops than donut shops or crackhouses, this seems just a tiny bit unrealistic.

"Moment Utopia"
"Summer Love"
A couple of short documentaries I haven't seen. "Summer Love" is about the formerly annual party near Vancouver, Canada.

"be.angeled"
Human traffic at the Love Parade? German, but much of the dialogue is in english. Anamorphic widescreen DVD with extras, but PAL, so the framerate is wrong.

"Party Girl"
NYC clubs and rent parties rather than raves, but good house music. DVD isn't widescreen.

Party Monster covers a period that took place during my party days in Dallas, I and in the film Michael Alig met his Girlfriend Gitsie at a Dallas party, and I remember that period when the Club-Kids came to town, and I remember that wearhouse downtown a few streets south of Deep Ellum that they mostly were going to at the time. I was even throwing parties myself at the time in a group called Thrill Pill Groove.

I can honestly say that most every event in this movie is spot on accurate, I've been in or seen personally about every point of view and situation occuring in this movie, right down to showing up late at a map point and finding a slip of paper with directions, to having to hack into the electrical system in a warehouse to get the juice on, and even cases of records getting warped in the sun and former straight friends suddenly suprising you with newfound bi curiosity.
Groove really does have it all and "Doing it for The Nod" is just so Right On that it brings tearful memories. The best parties always had chillrooms and a huge part of the culture died when laws were enacted to shut down parties by 4am, and The Chill Rooms faded away since you just couldnt get comfortable enough anymore knowing that you'd be forced out by 4am. Which seems late, but considering most parties didnt even get started til Midnight, 4 hours was not enough time to slip into the state of Chill Room mentality. I miss the early 90s in Dallas, it was the best! Also the Stark Club is really wear X took off in America which was also in Dallas when the stuff was legal and Stark was where it was at.

In my opinion, Human Traffic was the best other Rave movie I've seen, and I've seen quite a few. Also if you like the series in the UK, SPACED with Simon Pegg, then that series also came out around the same time as Human Traffic and has alot of Rave inside jokes in it. I believe the first episode of the 2nd season they go to a party and have an incredible time and its portrayed both hilarious, fun, and realistic. Their buddy, Tyres O'Flaherty is just too hilarious. He goes off into a crazy fit of dancing when he hears anything with a repetitive beat, telephones, car alarms, whatever flashes him back to being at the rave and he loses it to the music in his head. Great stuff, but Human Traffic does it even better I think.

Someone already mentioned A Midsummer Night's Rave, and they mentioned that it wasn't a GOOD movie. That's right, it's goofy (supposed to be a take on A Midsummer Night's Dream... in the rave world), but it has scenes that are spot-on, and the music is awesome.
I was in the underground scene in Dallas in early to mid 90s, and some of the scenes in this movie were perfect! Maybe this movie portrays the LA scene (people didn't really dress like total freaks in Dallas), but the rave scenes are right-on. the lighting is perfect for the hardcore music scenes, and the music is perfect... it just didn't last long enough. I would have loved to buy the soundtrack, but apparently there were copyright issues that could never be resolved.
Bottom line: if you can overlook the weak attempt at a plot, and just enjoy the rave scenes, this is a good one.
Some of the music (which I've looked for over the past few years):
Sasha - Expander
Ferry Corsten - Punk

Also, some of the movies listed here are DEPRESSING! It's all gone peter tong (sure it may end with a "feel good" approach, and maybe i teared up a bit at the come-back story, but for rave scene, the dj goes deaf... if you're not looking for a life lesson in feeling good, just a taste of the fun good times in the rave scene this isn't it), party monster, these are not fun movies although they may include elements of rave lifestyle.
If you want a fun, enjoyable movie midsummer night's rave has more about the average party-go'er than portraying a dark side of the extreme people involved in the scene.
One last thing, the music during the end credits of A Midsummer's Nights Rave is killer.

Surprised no one has not mentioned the movie "Go" Released a year before Groove...

That movie isn't about raves it just so happens to have a rave scene in it. Either way the OP already mentioned it.

Might as well include Formula 51, Blade and Matrix 3 while you're at it.
