I really wanted to like this movie

I was disappointed with this installment. That's a shame too because I loved TROMEO & JULIET, TERROR FIRMER and POULTRYGEIST - NIGHT OF THE CHICKEN DEAD but this movie tried too hard. I've heard people say it's the best -- that's preposterous! I even liked PARTS II and III - THE LAST TEMPTATION OF TOXIE better than this. This is, for me, hands-down the worst Toxie movie. The one that most people herald as the worst is the third but I actually think that one is the best of the sequels. The second one is just silly fun but it's certainly better than this garbage.

I usually like Troma's gross, unapologetic sense of humor but it doesn't work here because it's a TOXIC AVENGER movie. I know the first three were extremely violent and didn't shy away from nudity but this tries really hard to offend people and make them laugh at the same time. I don't mind poking fun at controversial issues but this movie does in a really insensitive way. I face-palmed the entire school shooting scene, not because it was too shocking, but because I was hanging my head in shame at how insensitive it is. The scene was obviously meant to parody the Columbine High School massacre, which is one thing, but it has white supremacists shouting expletives while mowing down badly stereotyped retarded children. I really hate it when Troma portrays stereotypes in unflattering ways (except for rednecks because they deserve all the disrespect they can get). Yes, the retarded child in TERROR FIRMER is portrayed in a rather stereotypical fashion, but not unflattering and she even becomes the hero of the movie. And our "hero," Toxie, is using the children as a shield!

The gross out scenes are stupid too. I can't see why any grown person would laugh at the elderly woman being crushed by the car tire and *beep* herself while still shaking her fist at the car that hit her. That scene wasn't really offensive as it was just juvenile. I hate to use that term here, because I also use it to describe a lot of movies I like, but this scene looks like something a *beep* fourth grader would write. I like crass and immature humor as much as the next person but this scene was just uncalled for.
