worst movie ever?

yay, i get to deverginize this one.
what's the deal keifer, this movie sucks. i rented it from my sister's private collection which guarantees crap status but, i like keifer. he's a good actor. i think he acts in movies which are completely below him. this movie was so bad my mother didn't even like it. a quasi-drunk psychic detective, ok, benefit of the doubt. so many mistakes and plot holes i couldn't think straight. put that aside, it went from somewhat terrible to the worst flick on the face of the earth. yeah, shame on you keifer.

reply

This is definitely not the worst one ever.

It's got a great actor and an interesting plot idea, which is FAR more than many movies have.

what i said was quite possibly an exaggeration. but i'll tell you this, while i was watching it i definitely felt like it was the worst movie ever. in hind sight i'm sure there are others that may surpass it. however, it's still damn close. i hold to my statement/opinion. now, keifer is a good actor, like i said, but this role and the roles he chooses are definitely not good enough for him. did you say this movie had an interesting plot idea???? yeah, for lifetime television maybe. the movie wasn't making my absolutely worst list until it hit absolute *beep* towards the end with it's neurotic, banal, swiss cheese style plot holes and ending. i'm not the slowest person out there, i'm pretty versed in film and can say that this definitely had the dumbest ending and probably most contrived.
my mother who adores columbo, murder she wrote and lifetime type 'mystery/thrillers' shared my sentiments. i usually can use her as a gauge with these things. you know it's crap when even she laughs at it. if she likes it, it's probably worthy of the jessica fletcher seal of approval or generically decent enough to watch instead of hearing the white noise in your head. put aside her opinion, and mine, how can anyone seriously like this movie? if you called a movie good based off one actor's general standing, i guess you could possibly remove it from the cacapile and place it in the cacapart2 pile. i wonder why keifer agreed to do this film. probably he too thought the plot seemed somewhat decent and then later saw the monstrosity for what it was and hid in shame for awhile in the ozarks or mountains of montana... (wherever he lives) i say, he needs a good role. he needs one worthy of him. i've liked him in many movies, and not particularly liked the movies themselves. but i definitely wouldn't say the movie was good just because keifer the beefer was in it. yes, i just called him the beefer. i don't know why, it's making me laugh though.

I just bought this movie on eBay a couple of weeks ago. It was really tough to find. What I liked is how it seemed like just a crime drama but then turned into a supernatural crime drama.

I just watched it on swedish national television, i found the basic idea quite good. But as the movie unfolds it just get more and more cheesy (not the end of Striptease cheesy but still) it was a ok movie but its the kind of movies you watch once and never again (like Blair Witch Prodject)...

If you're a Kiefer fan, I'd say definitely see this one. He's excellent, and the story's really not that bad. Underrated, IMO.

reply

I'm gonna buy it..just cuz its got Kiefer in it

*~Harry Potter baby!! Hell yeah!!~*

reply

It's not a bad film. The acting was great from the whole cast, and the story was quite cool.

The only problem I had was that it just seemed like a feature-length episode of the X-files.

reply

Please stop these whole crappy "the worst movie ever" thing...
You will find some morons like you on nearlly every board on this site, telling that their movie is THE worst ever... it's just stupid to say so...
You will find many more movies which are far worse than this one.. and you will ALWAYS find them to every so called "worst"...

This was actually a very good movie.

I was guessing up until the end who did it, outside the obvious scenes of who killed who in regard to Harve (and I'm pretty good at figuring out movie endings).

Kiefer's performance was great, very Jack Bauer-ish (that's the standard I now judge Kiefer's role by).
Somewhere on this board it was asked why Kiefer does movies like this, straight to video, not Oscar worthy material, and I think it's because he is from England and he uses his name to generate backing for these Canadian/English directors to get future jobs. He's supporting either Canadian/English filmakers much like Jk rowling is by insisting only English stars can play in her Harry Pottrer movies.

Go see this movie, it's great!

reply

Just because Kiefer happened to be born in an English hospital doesn't make him 'from' England...He grew-up in Canada..so he's 'from' Canada..HE IS CANADIAN...get it straight!!

reply

He's got dual citizenship from Canada and England, look it up.

It's is sweet of you to think that Kiefer did movies like After Alice because he was supporting Canadian and UK movie projects. The truth is much sadder: his career was in the dumper in 1998 and he was not getting offers for pictures by folks with greater clout. He has children to support and bills to pay, so he works where he can. It's hard to realize that he had a 10 year period when he did good work but not in A-list movies. It was so bad that he took 2 years off and did the team roping rodeo circuit (two championships). He was so upset with the kinds of movies he was offered that he directed two of his own during this period. Now that he has had the success of 24, if he does an indy movie it will not just be for the money. I have seen every one of his movies and every episode of 24 at least twice and have never seen him be less than professional, focused and fascinating to watch. He is a generous actor who "plays well with others." Hollywood is full of very good actors but the mania for STARS and hyperglitz has skewed Hollywood productions away from quality and toward special effects, loud noises and bright colors. Oops, I'm sorry, I'm ranting. I'll stop now.

I liked it.

It's not the best ever, but it was so much better than Taking Lives.

Plus, it was fun counting the number of shots Kiefer's character did in all of the bar scenes.

And not to turn this into a fangirl post, but I just love it when Kiefer's scruffy, drunk, and smoking. I guess now you can see why I liked this movie, haha.

reply

I think Sutherland's amazing (most of the time) but i could not for the life of me finish this movie. He was quite convincing as an overworked drunk with personal issues but the horrible plot just makes this into a B movie.

i liked it. *shrug*

I agree, it's way better than Taking Lives. That movie really falls apart once it's revealed Ethan Hawke's character is the guilty one.

This movie however was good from start to finish. Top-notch directing by Paul Marcus, a solid script with some fun dialogue, excellent performance by Kiefer Sutherland and I really loved the music.

reply

this movie did suck,no enjoyable suspense i would give this movie a zero.

reply

It's true Kiefer acts in movies that are below him, but this film wasn't one of them. I have always been a sucker for noir-ish detective stories, so I actually liked it. It's around 7/10 or 8/10 for me. Plus Kiefer is pretty much the highlight of this movie. Like that other poster said, he was very much Jack Bauer in this, but a lot drunker, lol. Seriously he was excellent here, especially this was pre-24 days. The script could have been better and more impacting, but I suppose they were going for a subtle noir mood.

The film started off well, with the cool quips and repartee of a classic noir flick. But it started falling apart mid-way. The plot became ridiculous, the smart dialogue dried up. The only thing that held it together was Kiefer Sutherland's performance. He's the only reason any of us have bothered to watch it at all.
