One of the most boring movies i've ever seen

I think this was an attempt by Spielberg at directing in the style of Kubrick, but he just failed miserably. The pacing is just godawful.

Completely agree. Will never watch this train wreck a second time. I’ve only contempt for it.

Ouch! I watch it in spurts, but only parts at a time. It's dark but very thought provoking IMO.

Strntz, you’re smarter and nicer than I am. I’m certain, when you watch this piecemeal today, when AI is a fact of life (that I am nearly convinced will end the human species), that it provokes you to think. My comment stems from memories formed when this came out. I often find Spielberg hard to take, a crowd-pleasing sophist who doesn’t realize that is what he is. I LOATHE Haley Joel Osment, lines like, “I am, I WAS!” are straight out of The Book of Alleged Existential Profundities. They may resonate, until you actually think about them. Having said all that, I am happy for you that you enjoyed it and have found value in it. Please don’t let curmudgeonly me interfere with any of that.

You can’t take me anywhere!

LOL, you're being very generous!!

I wouldn't say I "enjoyed" it as much as I was maybe captivated by it. Lots wrong with the film to be sure.

I thought I was alone in my hatred of this film. Not only the pacing but the pretentious script!

That's exactly what this is.
But don't be so hard on little Stevie for trying to fill in waaaay bigger shoes.
He's as likely to succeed as me attempting to play football in the style of Lionel Messi.
It's just gonna look fuckin goofy.
