That was bad..

I saw a couple of episodes recently and it is bad!
Compare it to the cute fantasy type stories of the previous MLP, and u c the difference.
I suppose the writers thought they were appealing to the "real" world of kids or something but you don't have to dumb down a message and insult our intelligence.
Boyfriend ponies? Slumber parties?
If I wanted a slice of teenage angst I 'd watch the Lizzie Maguire show, at least it has real people.
I rate this show below the Hug a bug Club (*shudder*)
and the Barney the Dinosaur show (ditto)

P.S- I don't usually bash children's shows but hopefully we will not have to endure such painful off putting programmes in the future.

I Agree whole heatedly, I mean what happened to Megan the owner, in the eighties it was far more realaistic. They were horses, granted they talked. but amyway it was great the way it was.

Yeah, this version of MLP was too much of a radical departure from the premis of the original. I didn't even bother to explain what happened to the original characters. I mean there was a vague reference to "Dream Valley" in one episode, but that was so poorly written and explained that it wasn't even funny. The addition of male ponies didn't bother me (as it made the cast more balanced genderwise), it was the setting that got me, and the fact that the ponies were using their forelegs like arms (even picking things up with their hooves, especially since they didn't have fingers). You could've changed the ponies to humans and there wouldn't be any difference in the episodes. Speaking as an amateur author, I could have written a better sequel series myself, and have something more true to the original than this. This is what we get, when Hollywood tries to cater to what's popular without putting any thought into what's already been filmed.

Until the day, till all are one.

don't forget abso. rubbish dialogues, pithy storylines and a tendency to blush with shame for ever owning one of those pony dolls....

I still have mine somewhere...

are you kidding me?! I loved this show?! I still love this show and im 18! MLP was not about being '80s'; it was about all that friendship crap; and i for one loved this series because it focused on actual main characters, and it was totally adorable with the boyfriend ponies and such, its not for 'teenagers' its for the little girls that dream of the prince in shining armour who will wisk her away, and the little girls whose friends are the most important things in their life

and plus, who liked megan anyways? i never thought a human should be in pony land to begin with; im glad there was no humans in this one... plus it mixed the fantasy and the realism, better, way too much fantasy, i.e. originally MLP just makes ones head hurt; but when you mix it in with real characters in real problems, such as buffy, charmed, x-files, and stuff like that, its much more open

so go bash barney if you hate it so much; you obviously dont know the magic my little pony tales had on little girls

Mmm, I don't really agree with you. I kind of liked the whole "real" aspect of the ponies. I felt that it was better than what we have nowadays, it is alot more entertaining than Dora the Explorer or Lizze McGuire. It would've been kind of cool, though, to see something related to an anti-drug message (like, Melody wants to try some marijuana and the others tell her not to). I don't know...hehe! But, I actually thought it was a good show.

I only checked it out since I'll watch anything animated by Toei and it really is as bad as everyone here says it was. The animation is brst part but still inferior to the 80's shows as well as in voice acting and writing, pretty much all the songs sucked too and you can tell that the entire cast were amateurs. The only one that really ever did anything afterward was Venus Terzo.

Pleased to meet you. Hope you guess my name. ;)
