Have they made this into an american film?

I saw this a year ago and really enjoyed this film. What I found very interesting was how western this film was in it's style and plot. Is this because of globalization or is it simply the taiwanese culture? An intersting question i have for everyone is, how long till it's remade into an american film where they remove the side story of her phone conversations?

i don't think sooo... at least not to my knowledge

and if they do remake it ... i hope to God they don't remove the sidestory ... it added a whole new level to the movie... i wouldn't want to watch the remake if they cut out the phone convos
