They don't make comedy films like this in Hollywood anymore. Silly yet clever fun with a simple plot and iconic moments. Nowadays all comedy films are trying to outdo one another through shock value, vulgarity, etc.

shareI don't know, Die Hard With A Vengeance was awesome (I like it better than the first one due to it continuing being clever from start to finish) and that was 1997. Starship Troopers, The Matrix, The One, The Man From Nowhere, I Saw The Devil, Taxi (the original French one), The Nest (from 2002), and the list goes on.
The issue is that most movies these days suffer from wokeism and SJW creators, so the movies themselves suck through and through.

Hollywood seems to have lost the knack of making movies that are simple and fun, just like they've lost the knack for making romantic comedies.
Comedy's on a decline since it won't play worldwide as well as action franchises and superheroes.
We also don't see as many mature action or comedy films getting top-shelf releases (Terminator, for instance, or The Fugitive for action movies and stuff like Broadcast News in comedy). Teenagers just have too much desposible income.
Basically, I resent the Marvel Cinematic Universe for simplifying (dumbing-down), and cheapening the broader landscape of (mainstream, advertised) films.

And it’s not like “the teens have too much money.” It’s more like the teens are the only ones dumb and horny enough to suffer the dreadful movie theater experience because they can’t afford a home theater and thunk they might get laid if they go on a date in a movie theater.
We get 1-2 per year.
