For Lethal Vows, many of the names were changed, but the story is based on one Richard K. Overton, who was poisoning his ex-wife, Dorothy Boyer, and killed his third wife, Janet Overton.

You can read more information here: http://www.govtech.net/magazine/story.php?id=96104&issue=12:1996.

For a further, in-depth reading, buy the the book Final Affair by Frank McAdams and Tim Carney.

Thank you so much for the link!

This movie was devastating! I cringe every time it comes on Lifetime. Horrible, horrible man he was!

I originally saw this movie several years ago, but nowhere in its entirety; I saw about a quarter of it when it was in the middle. Remembering about this movie today, I searched for it online and found it on Youtube. I then watched it in its entirety and I'm glad that I did. John Ritter is well-known for his good guy roles, but there were very few bad guy roles he played (Bride of Chucky and Buffy the Vampire Slayer come to mind). He's fantastic in this movie and made me hate his character. Wish he played more bad guy roles before his untimely death. RIP, John. You'll be missed.
