Dawson?

I don't get the reference. The only thing I can think of is Dawson's Creek and Titanic. I thought it was only making fun of slasher movies, though there is a lot of other nods in it. It's just that he's a main character so I figure it would have something to do with the focus.

It's from Dawson's Creek, making fun of how unrealistic high school portrayals (including in slasher flicks) are.

Dawson Deery is a reference to Dawson Leery in Dawson's Creek, there is another reference to dawson's creek with the student who is having an affair with the french teacher, this refers to Pacey in dawson's creek.
Don't relly know why they put a reference to dawson's creek in although if a remember correctly there is a reference in Scary Movie.

They probably referenced dawsons creek because kevin williamson was the writer of dawsons creek and the writer of scream and i know what you did last summer

reply

Yeah gabbierulz is right. There is even a part in the movie where the Dawson character tells someone that he enjoyed working with "William Kevinson," a play on Kevin Willamson's name.

Mickey scream 2

i thought it was also poking fun at the actors/actresses that are known for these silly teen soap operas who do the slasher flicks (party of five, buffy the avmpire slayer, etc.)

Here lies Dobby, a Free Elf.
Chuck Norris' boggart is Neville Longbottom.

reply

i thought it was a mix between dawson's creek charcter and cotton weary from the scream films
