So Emily was a ghost?

Is that right?

reply

No, she was originally intended to be, though.

But how come Rio said the treasure chest only opened from the outside, and she was in there when George opened it? Surely she must have been a ghost. And then Rio kept talking about her in the past tense and all, and George said he didn't feel so good. Wth?? She had to have been a ghost..

reply

i got the feeling she was a ghost too. also from the old ladies' reactions to george asking them about emily.

Well if she were a ghost, how could she wear the cross, which was a material thing, which George uses?

reply

He probably just found it in there or something.

Hello! Its so obvious.

Emily was playing hide and seek with Rio. She opened the chest from the outside and hid in there, but locked herself in when she closed it.

Sheesh. Is that so hard to figure out?

emily is dead thats why george did not feel so good. she locked herself in that chest and died in there. It was her ghost. How else would Rio know she was there then???? She died

I thought george felt bad because emily had asked to go with him and she was upset when he said no (or sounded disappointed, either way) however, I played it all again today and when Rio and George talk on Zombie island and George says solomnly, "thats the last we ever spoke of emily" I thought - hmm... funny way to say that, whats up. She wasn't dead explicitely, theres nothing to say she was necessarily dead. But that line made me think. Otherwise, it'd just be that she was lonely and something could happen to her because her aunts dont seem to care, she isnt allowed to see Rio and George left her.... so she might well lock herself in there again and never be found... hmm. It's not obvious that she's dead at all.

You could've been number one.. if only you'd had the time.

I think this is true given from the evidence others have mentioned. I played it today. Emily also keeps mentioning that she's not allowed to go outside. It didn't cross my mind until I read the trivia on wiki and the bit where George said they never spoke of her again struck me as weird so I think she is meant to be a ghost...that's really creepy! lol.
The talking goat really spun me out...

If she were dead her Aunts would not have gone after Rio when George said he saw him playing with her.

Its the only way to get them to leave so you can get the stuff from their cat and get Bronson's target.

She was definitely a ghost. Rio had no need to lie about her getting trapped in the chest, and was a good kid. If the aunts went after Rio its because they thought he was trouble and blamed him for Emilys death. Gave me chills when i first got the revelation.

The realization gives me a chill. Same as with the two kids in the first part who were left for dead in the well in Spain.
