Reminded of Audrey Hepburn

Some of it may be having the same first name. I was somewhat amazed that Ms. Tautou's parents actually named her after Ms. Hepburn at birth. There's a lot of the same elfin charm in Amelie that Hepburn displayed in most of her films. Of Tautou's other films I've only seen The Da Vinci Code and she didn't register with me then, maybe because I didn't like Da Vinci. Still, as best I can remember, she might've had a similar character. Does Tautou resemble Hepburn in her other films. Should I look for them?

reply

She doesn't.

Her characters tend to be more...err, unusual compared to that of Audrey Hepburn's. Even in this movie her character is nothing like Audrey Hepburn ever played.

I think she looks like her

I don't think she looks like her, but she does capture Hepburn essence.

she does capture Hepburn essence

I thought so too. I kept thinking about "Breakfast at Tiffany's" in particular. (Which, unfortunately, I don't like... but that's another post for another day in another thread.)

Actually reminded me more of Zasu Pitts, who was the inspiration for Olive Oyl in the Popeye cartoons. A dramatic actress (Greed) who turned to quirkey comedy. Arguable physical resemblence, but a definite comedy connection with the Amelie character.

reply

Looks most like Audrey Hepburn when she has a big smile.

Figure yeah.
Height no.
Mannerism yes.
Face no.
Clothes sort off.
In essence ' not really.

reply

Try "Priceless" if you can find it, her character is Hepburnesque in my opinion.
