Non-existent? I beg to differ. It's just that people like Amelie are not the type of people who you'd meet in social settings.
I could totally relate to certain aspects of her character and I'm a guy.
couldn't relate to anyone in the movie, so for me it was rather boring as well unfortunately

Albeit unrealistic, I like her good-nature. I just despised the scene where she had sex, and treated it as unremarkable and not something to treasure and hold onto until marriage. This went against her characterization in the rest of the film, and in the film's tagline, as her being "innocent".
shareWell I dont think the film meant to portray her as a complete 'little girl'.. Just that she always looked on the happy side of life, believed (or hoped) for true love.. not just complete naivety.. she has her darker moments

See I thought the point of that scene was to show that she found it unremarkable because she wasn't in love. Or at least because she was awkward around people. She was a curious dreamer so I don't think its against her characterization to try sex, but they don't make her out to be the type to sleep around alot either.
At the end when she is lying in bed with Nino, she has an elated look on her face, despite being shown in a similar shot to the former sex scene. I think it was done purposely to show that her love for Nino had allowed her to finally experience sex to the fullest.
