The perfect movie for an introvert or to be more specific, an INTP?

I am an introvert myself, an INTP (one of the Jungian personality types, here's a link for your kind perusal, www.personalitypage.com/html/info.html) to be particular. I really loved the movie and the character and I think that all of that has to do with my being an introvert. By this I don't want to imply that none of its admirers can be extroverts, but I guess if you are an introvert you can relate to the character quite realistically. Amelie was one cinematic character whose every action seemed justified to me, just because I feel I would have done the same were I her.

So, what do you have to say on this. Don't you think this is the perfect movie for an introvert? Or are there any other movies that may appeal even better to introvert?

I am an INFP. I Could relate to the movie totally.

I'm an INFP too and this movie is still my favourite movie of all time. So much so that when I went to Paris this year I went most of the places where the movie was filmed. I totally relate to Amelie. Things like her not wanting to actually get in contact with Nino because the reality may be way to different to her fantasy. Her not wanting to confront people outright, but rather getting back at them through sneaky tactics.

I am an INFJ. When I watched this movie for the first time I cried because I relate to her so much. The scenes with the grocer, where she quietly suppresses her frustration... that's me. I understand the feeling of wanting to scream at someone so loud but knowing how ineffective it would be because after the scream, you don't know what to really say. Now, I've never devised a sneaky plan of revenge. But, I've often dreamed about it. The scene in the cafe with Nino, where she put so much effort in arranging it, but then is too scared to speak. I can so relate. Not just on a normal nervousness scale, where some extroverts persist. But, rather as an introvert who suddenly regrets their moments of boldness and then wants to blend into the wallpaper.

Ah, interesting to see a MBTI thread here.

I'm an INFJ and really related to this movie. The way the narrator describes the odd features of the characters is something I'm really interested in. Seeing as I have weird features myself, like I only chew on the left side of my mouth or collect weird newspaper titles.
I could see a lot of myself in this movie.

I'm an INTP and I'm totally with you.

Yeah, when watching the film I was thinking an extrovert might not necessarily get Amelie's behaviour but I could totally relate.

Oh you'll eat a muffin.. You'll eat it and LIKE IT!

I'm an ESTP and that movie is one of my favourites. Although I'm quite social, I have always been a little shy interacting with members of opposite sex I found attractive. So yes, I could relate to her in a way she interacts with Nino (she is much more creative, though). And although she is much different than me in other aspects, that didn't stop me from enjoying her beautiful story.

I had this film in my watch list for a while and got around to watching it today. Not sure why I added it. Recently I've got a thing for French women so that could have been it but I also knew it was about a social awkward person so I love films where I relate to the characters.

I'm so glad I did! I don't like films with subtitles as I like to watch the acting and cinematography but I can read pretty quickly so enjoyed it nonetheless.

Now I'm introverted too, no idea where I am on that scale you posted. But I really could relate to Amelie. She has the heart and wants to be out there but it's crippling not to be even when only 1 inch separates her and her desired she's just not able to do anything.

She also sees injustices in the world and wants to make people happy.

The love scene at the end was done so perfectly too. It wasn't a bit sloppy passionate French kiss. It was a loving peck especially the kiss on the eyes. Ameile's look of content with her man laying on her chest was beautifully touching.

Wonderful film!

Bauer vs. Bourne, that is the question.

Doesn't her behavior have more to do with neuroticism than introversion?

reply

I don't know how it could be termed neuroticism when there is so much direction and Soul behind everything Amelie does in the film. I would call it Passion....a very quiet, introverted Passion. So wonderful when her Passion gets to bloom!

An intp, and I loved the film. A guy, but I get what Amelie intends and what drives her to it.

Not a brilliant film but one that appeals to me. Loved it.

I'm an INTP but, as much as I wanted to like the film, I couldn't. I don't know why. It just didn't grab my interest, I guess. Loved the color scheme, however.

I'm also an introvert, and I loved this movie because of how much I could relate to Amelie. This movie perfectly portrayed how introverts feel and how we approach situations, in my opinion. Although, I will say that Amelie is much more creative than I am!
