cibersix vs dark angel

i heard that someone, i think maybe the crators of the comic, were suing (spelling)james cameron and the producers of the tv show "dark angel" for being a rip off of cibersix (which i think is true). anyone know anything about it?

No, but I think it's probably true. When I first saw "Dark Angel" after the unforgivably short original run of C6, that was pretty much what I thought. A superhuman (in a true sense, that being just heightened abilities of what a "normal" person can do) in a slightly futuristic world, and they were both dark in a Tim Burton-ish kind of way. I just find it sad that C6 did not seem to get the exposure or respect it deverved/deserves. I for one would much rather see some kind of movie/special or some kind of resurrection of the C6 franchise than I would "Dark Angel". But yes, to those who are familiar with both, it struck a LOT of people as being suspiciusly similar.

I am very much a fan of scifi and fantasy, especially in this kind of subgenre, and actually "Darkman" and "V for Vendetta" actually I found to be in a similar kind of vein to C6 and DA as well. Although in their case, not smilar enough that I would be yelling "plaigarism!"

Just wondering what some of your thoughs are...

You could argue that both are a ripoff of Gunnm/Battle Angel Alita, anyway.

Dark Angel was DEFINITELY inspired by BAA.

It's very confusing at times, because Marvel had a comic book created in 1992 called "Hell's Angel" starring a super heroine, but since the Hell's Angels biker gang threatened to sue and basically scared Marvel, they changed the name to "Dark Angel".

I never read the comics, but all these years until recently, I thought the FOX tv series was based OFF of that particular comic book line.

But I DO know that Cybersix has alot of elements similar with DA, such as the roof top scenes, character design, plot parallels, and things like that.

But Cybersix has been around for YEARS, they even had a short-lived television live-action series in 1995 at Argentina, where the Cybersix comics originated from.

So I would assume that there's some biting going on. But hey, it's Fox. Can we expect less?
