1981?

I could swear it was older than that. It is a movie from the series called "Mikhail Baryshnikov's Stories from My Childhood". Mikhail Baryshnikov was born on 28 January 1948, which means he had to be 33 years old when this movie came out. One would expect that most people who are in their 30's don't consider themselves to be children anymore. Well, I don't trust wikipedia completely.

1981 is the date clearly stated in movie credits. Being ex-soviet citizen I would say it's highly unlikely to be some glitch or an error.

1981 is the year the CARTOON was released. However, it is based on a book, written by a Soviet sci-fi writer Kir Bulychov, that was published much earlier. I'd imagine that it's the book that Barushnikov refers to when he calls it a "story from his childhood".
