Ending is not laughable as it was made out to be....


... Being a stickerler for chess detail I had heard that the end of the movie was laughable because they let his wife finish the tournament for him using notes, then declared him champion. That would be silly indeed. It was obvious that it was done as a favor granted by the challenger and out of curiosity which I found to be anything but laughable.

As the above poster said, it's not a chess movie. But let's just say it was an extraordinary set of circumstances.

Also, I don't know the real rules here, but I would think that if one player was unable to continue, he would forfeit.
