He disintegrated entering the atmosphere
And only his mask was left?

^maybe the mask strap disintegrated so coming loose, and Jason is just out of frame. :)

No, I think his 'upgrades' disintegrated off and he was going to pick up where he left off, as a serial killer who hunted around a lake.
