How'd he explain this to his parents

Am I the only one who wondered that as a kid? I mean, one day he's got this slick car, and the next day it was gone. How'd he explain that away to his parents? I mean he couldn't just say "Hey Mom and Dad, remember that car you bought me? We'll we're pretty much fused together."
