How can people hate this movie?
This movie is fantastic, I'm shocked to see a good amount of people hate it.
But hey, to each his own.

I haven't seen it yet but I saw someone who did and hated it, saying it was completely unrealistic how they won every single game etc... I kept telling him it was based on a true story but he called *beep* and wouldn't believe me.

Happy Evil Dude,
Exactly! I live here in VA, not far from T.C. Williams School, and they had TONS of phone calls and visits, asking about how "realistic" the movie was. Although bits and pieces were made up for theatrical purposes, the perfect football record that season was NOT made up.
Some people just don't want to believe anything anybody else tells them about a movie like this, even if you explain to them in great detail that these events actually did happen.
shareyet people will believe that jfk was killed the way hollywood did it. not the way it was told from the fbi serect serivces...
It has more to do with teh fact that the part of the racist people want to act like it never happen. that why a lot of people dislike it. I like it for that reason it show how bad it is.
this is not to be racist hopefully it does not come off a racist... But i am a bit of ashamed knowing my white people forced people and slaved them and did *beep* like this. makes me sick to my stoamic
I'm ashamed of your grammar and spelling, Jesus Christ open up a damn dictionary.

Me too...ha, they portray a school 5 minutes from DC by car as rural. What a joke. This movie was about 10% factual, at most. I guess that would be the record. Did you know that TC was the only school in our district that had to play Saturday day games instead of Friday nights? Yep, this is true. Violence. Never made the movie.

I don't hate it...I just don t like it. i thought it was cool the first time I saw it though. I found it a bit preachy and superficial/sensationalized
Lawyer:You sir are a moron
Homer:A Mormon,but I'm from earth!
Two words: Jerry Bruckheimer.
It's me, your lovable dictator! Uh-oh. -Bender, Futurama
One more word: Disney
shareExactly, I used to like it when I was younger, now I find it kind of homo-erotic. It's hard to explain, it's maybe because it's disney'd up.
shareI'll tell you why. Actually, you guys have told yourselves. Everyone who hears "based on actual events" thinks it is true to the core of what actually happened.
There are made up characters used to introduce "conflict" where it didn't exist. I mean Bertier even played in teh final game. That's a huge thing.
The race conflict wasn't even over the team. It has so much crap made up that it totally ruins it.
I love this movie too. So much that I'm going to watch it today. I used to own thi son VHS, but bought it on DVD not long ago. Great movie with excellent acting. One of the few wholesome good movies we have. It's one of those character building movies that leaves you feeling good after watching it.
shareI agree. I just watched this movie for the first time in years, and i've become majorly addicted to it. But I think I would love it even more if it wasnt a Disney movie.
shareI absolutely adore this movie. It's my favorite movie about sports, and one of my favorite movies ever.

I say what I want. I do what I want. I get what I want. End of story.
Why so SERIOUS?
Although cheesy at times, this movie is great. However, the ending kind of ruined it for me when the opposing coach in the championship game, who supposedly is a "hall of fame" coach, suddenly realized that on the last play of the game, and the Titans, like, 75 yards away from the endzone, are going to pass. When he starts yelling about "Watch the pass! Watch the pass!", that just seemed a little too riduculous for even a made up story. And then the fact that they ran it in from 75 yards out with no time left was pretty far fetched. Great movie ruined by a horrible ending.
shareI always got a kick out of that myself medal5.
75yds., last play, watch the pass? Ya-think?
Its not the story that is bad, its a great story, its instead how Disney had to totally Hollywoodize and cheese up the story. This movie is so predictable and sappy. People just don't behave this way.
sharejust saw it on the tube. not a very special movie in my opinion. it might be a special moment in time, but the movie is (as other users already said) very disney.
shareTHIS MOVIE IS PURE GOLD.
I DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE.
5 STARS MATEEEE :)
I felt like,
"This guy's really hurting me."
And it hurt.
I find RTT unwatchable for 4 reasons...
Overly sentimental
Hackneyed plot
Writing is often contrived
Hayden Panettiere
CHICKENS DONT CLAP!
I like this movie but the language threw me off.
I know Disney wanted this to be a more family oriented flick, but these tough sports guys saying...
"I don't give a hoot" Julius Campbell says.
A hoot...
I just think they would have been cussing more. *shrugs* Just me.
Come on, I want you to do it, I want you to do it. Come on, hit me. *Hit me!* -Jokershare
