this film, maybe, gives a good image of the life of the common people in a remote region of China, 80's.
I felt a catharsis, because its atmosphere reminded me of my own childhood.

but Chinese Gaige-kaifang was rapid. and it's still going on.
this family where they go?

Yes the film felt very authentic in regards life in that region, and it was shot beautifully.
It perhaps suffered from an over-dose of sentimentality, but I still thought it was a great watch.
Very happy I decided to get it out from the DVD store on a whim.
