(Norbou) the monk has the most handsome face to look at in the film... and the most beautiful soul to admire.

The wonderful faces of the cast were the best parts of the film. The contrast between the old Chief's weatherworn visage and the smooth, calm face of his son Norbou, the monk, spoke volumes about the vast differences in the lives each had led. Despite the conflicts in all the personalities of the villagers, they all share a desire to do what's best for their people. It was a great film about amazing people in a spectacular environment.

I had to beat them to death with their own shoes. Nasty business, really.
