what happened to game shows on nickelodeon?

Back in the late 80's and early 90's, nickelodeon had a ton of game shows. Double dare, guts, legends of the hidden temple, figure it out, get the picture, make the grade, nick arcade, + a ton of others.

What happened? It seems all nick has now are dumb shows, like sitcom type shows and dumb cartoons.

One reason I liked these shows was not because they were interesting but I wanted to be on them as a contestant so bad. Seriously, Some of the games on GUTS were too cool...and legends of hidden temple. And Nick arcade? That's like being inside a video game...in a weird sort of way lol
I wanted to be on one so bad, that I wouldn't of even cared if I lost lol

I think tons of kids wanted to be on some of those shows.
But Now, nick has NO game shows. And some kids probably wouldn't even care to be on them if there were.

I gave up on Nickelodeon when it began to make major changes.

Yeah it's a shame that they don't play game shows any more. Both nick and Disney are catering pretty hard to the tween crowd these days. There's nothing for anyone under 11-12 for the most part, it's all for Tweens. Lots of snarky teens, yelling at adults, bright futuristic looking sets, multi media centered around their phones and tablets, etc. not very good these days, but everyone says that about the stuff that comes after their time, so...
