Campy at best

I loved the novel but i felt the remake was direly campy
and just too light. The book i felt was darker and had a smug
1920's feel to it. I found the movie often hilarous and sometimes
creepy or just plain odd. The casting was off and the direction worse
but i still had a good time laughing even though it didn't fill the
void for a good gatsby movie.

I've got to be honest, I don't think ANY movie can live up to the glories of the novel.

I enjoyed this version v. much, despite its taking creative license.

Campy? I can't think of a single campy line or scene.

I thought this was a very good TV movie.

I think he ment that if you know the story this version is a little ridiculous.

They didn't have the budget to do or show half of the story properly. The acting is second rate and it looks like fall in Canada. Not summer on the Gold Coast.
