Who's The Better Daisy?

Who played the role of Daisy Buchanan better in "The Great Gatsby"? Mia Farrow of the the 1974 movie or Mira Sorvino in the 2000 TV movie?

My answer is Mira Sorvino.

I think Mira Sorvino too. She was a lot less fake (I know Daisy is supposed to be a little fake, but Mia was really pushing it) and a lot less loud.

Mira Sorvino. Mia Farrow was way too energetic and hyper. I always pictured Daisy as almost lazy, soft spoken. Mira Sorvino was like that. HOwever, Mia Farrow really made it clear that this woman is SHALLOW, which is an essential characteristic of Daisy. I don't feel like Mira Sorvino fully tapped into Daisy's shallowness. Personally I think the BEST Daisy is gonna be Carey Mulligan in 2012. Can't wait to see her and Leo DiCaprio. Not sure on Tobey Maguire but he could be a great Nick - right in between Sam Waterston and Paul Rudd.

Neither was particularly good in this role. Mia Farrow doesn't have enough sex appeal and Mira doesn't have enough class.

Will Carrie Mulligan of the 2012 The Great Gatsby surpass Mia Farrow of the 1974 film The Great Gatsby and Mira Sorvino of the 2000 TV-movie The Great Gatsby in the role of Daisy?

Will she be the best or the worst among the three actresses who have portrayed the same role?

Let's wait and see.

I just watched both Mia Farrow's and Carey Mulligan's portrayals as Daisy Buchanan. While I'm a fan of Mulligan, IMO, her performance was uninspired and somewhat wooden. I'm also a fan of Farrow, but can't say she breathed life into the hollow-souled heroine either. Daisy Buchanan is probably one of the most difficult roles to play as written by Fitzgerald and I cannot think of an actress today who fits the bill. Would love to hear suggestions, however!

I loved Leo's Gatsby, but have to admit my partiality as I am wowed by most of his performances. Why he hasn't received an Oscar yet is Hollywood's shame. But then, that competition is hardly a model for recognition of merit (with the notable exception of well-deserved back-to-back wins for Tom Hanks!).

My favorites:

Daisy: Mulligan
Gatsby: DiCaprio
Nick: Waterston
Tom: Edgerton
Jordan: Debicki
Myrtle: Black
George: Wilson

I found all the 2000 performances flat and uninvolving, but part of the blame goes to the leaden direction and corner-cutting production.

I agree with all your choices, except I think Bruce Dern was the best Tom.

Mira doesn't look blueblood anymore than Carey Mulligan does in the new, ridiculous version.

Mia Farrow wins simply on looks. Although I find her looney tunes interpretation a little questionable.
