Superb masterwork

This outstanding movie is really a masterwork. The director Carlos Saura again demonstrate his indubitable talent in this masterwork.
With an extraordinary cast like Francisco Rabal (Old Goya) who give us a memorable perfomance, Jose Coronado (Young Goya) versatile, honest and veritable actor, Dafne Fernandez (Rosarito,Goya's daughter)great and acute, Maribel Verdu (Duchess of Alba)captivating, charming and subtile, Eulalia Ramon (Leocadia)devote and tender. With a very good work of all the supporting actors and actress that helped making this "Euvre d'art". The photography, music, costumes, scenography, sound, all conjugates in a unique movie.
Is a powerful audiovisual spectacle that goes deep into the tormented soul and life of Francisco de Goya y Lucientes and the meaning of his paintings, the facts he lived and suffer...
Vittorio Storaro made one of his finest job in the cinematography world.
Superb masterwork that you will see...again and again.

I thought it was a complete mess. Opinions obviously differ.

I watched this film half sick with flu and dozed off several times - not because it was boring, but because I was ill. And yet when I'd wake the images were immensely powerful. Look forward to seeing this again when I'm well.
