syndication?

I only ever watched Ally McBeal in syndication on FX and it was an hour long. Is this half-hour long version of the show shown in reruns as well? How come they made a half-hour version of an hour long show and called it Ally? I don't think I was ever aware it existed until noticing it on IMDb.

they only made 12 episodes of this, and 2 went unaired. If they ever get around to doing an Ally McBeal DVD set, maybe they'll throw these in. But from what I heard, the problems with the Ally McBeal DVD set lie in the fact that it's tough to get clearance for all of those songs they used. They didn't anticipate DVD box sets when they liscensed the songs during its original production.

So what was the deal with this show? Did it come before or after Ally McBeal ended? I never heard of it. I thought maybe they just decided to change the title of the show halfway through, but that wouldn't account for it only being a half hour. I'm very curious. If they ever do release an Ally McBeal DVD set, I'll rent it just to check out this version of the show. Thanks.

it came on about during the 3rd or 4th season of the Ally McBeal, if I remember correctly. This was the half hour, edited down version. They basically just took old episodes and edited out the courtroom plotline and leaving in only the stories that revolved around Ally's character. It would run one night while the regular show ran another.

That is so strange. Whoever thought that would work as a show didn't think things through very far. Thanks again. :)

They most likely have the R2 or R4 DVDs.

yea, I have all of Ally McBeal on region 2 dvd. Still have never heard of this though.

This is very bizzare, but I would like to see these "unaired scenes", I guess.

just got the dvds. usa 2009. These were not on there. David E Kelley explained this "series" in a Ally McBeal guide book. He said that they had extra scenes from the Ally McBeal series and (probably bc they didn't have dvds for all the deleted scenes) he wanted to share them with the fans. Nothing new here and significant to the AM story line. Really it probably only aired because this was one of fox's most successful series at the time and they wanted more viewers. I watched it so it wasn't a horrible idea.
