what kind of wierd acent are they speaking with?

From what I gathered in the closed captioning Norwegian.

Though I never understood why they'd speak English in their own country Lol.

They could have done like Godfather 2 with the sequences with the young Don Vito and had the old sequences completely Norwegian and cut between the American actors.

They're not in Norway, but on an island of the coast of New Hampshire or something. As I understood it they immigrated.

Well the captioning said they were speaking Norwegian, so I don't know.

I've just seen the film on Danish television and 2 of the characters are famous Danish actors:

Ulrich Thomsen .... John Hontved
Anders W. Berthelsen .... Evan Christenson

They speak with their own accents and the Danish language is related to Norweigian, well almost the same languages, so there you have it!
I don't know about the other actors...

They speak with a Danish accent, not Norwegian even though they're portraying Norwegians.
