Still don't get this part......

The scene when the wife tells Hurley about how Penn killed a girl is confusing. Why does Hurley's character appear to get upset about being told? She even asks why Penn's wife told her that? Why would it bother her so much? She didn't seem sad - she seemed mad. "So every poem is about her?", she asks.
Why did she care - she wasn't his wife. Just gets unclear - obviously she has a thing for Penn and he and his wife don't really get along. What was really happening?
I would slap the clothes back on that Hurley woman! lol.
Sarah Polley was outstanding as usual.

I didn't think that Adaline and Thomas were having an affair, at least not yet. Adaline clearly wanted an affair with Thomas and openly flirted and flashed her breast at him, and none of this was lost on Jean, who could also see her husband's growing interest. I even wondered if Adaline was just using the brother as a way to get close to Thomas, because she had the hots for him because she admired his poetry. Jean told Adaline the story about the girl who got killed to spoil her admiration for Thomas and to turn her off. At one point, Thomas asked his brother "are you serious about her?". I got the impression that Thomas wanted to see how much his brother would mind if he did start an affair with Adaline. As to Adaline's comment about wanting to meet Jean, perhaps she was trying to get back at Jean for the story about the dead girl, I'm not sure. I can see how it could be taken as an indication that there was already an affair going on.
