Can you imagine if this really happened? How would the older sister get through life what happened to her little sister for some "free" candy?

Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.

I just watched the "storekeeper" short after watching "Tsotsi."
I was horrifed at the scene with the little girl crawling to the doorway, and her sister reaching through the bars toward her.
I watched it again, with the director commentary.
The director said that he shot the two children (sisters in real life) separately. The older sister knew what was going on with the scene, and had no trouble crying.
The little one (who was 4 at the time), was told that she was covered in yucky ketchup and had a tummy ache. :0)
The director was lying on the floor with her and said he was making goofy faces at her.
I guess that is why, even though this is a scene dealing with breaking and entering, the little girl looks so innocent, without any guilt at all about breaking into the store to steal.
He was giving her directions like, "Ok, now you are going to tiptoe over to the shelf and get some yummy candy!"
I feel better after hearihg how he directed her in a way that she didn't know what was happening to her character. I would hate for her to be warped for life or something..... :0)
Oh, yeah, Tsotsi was pretty good, too. lol....
