Is gerda suicidal?

you know when gerda jumps off the bridge, does she commit suicide? because is theis whole new world she travels through supposed to be heaven? and if she really is dead then how does she come back to life at the end? and how does her body survive the time while shes away in this other world, or does her body go with her? And how does she know that jumping into the river will lead her to kai?
Someone please help me with this, im so confudled.

Hi
I don't know if Gerda was atually committing suicide or not, but she was obviously feeling pretty depressed because the snow queen had taken Kai, so maybe she jumped off the bridge in a moment of extreme despair. She probably didn't know this would lead her to Kai.
I don't think it's supposed to be heaven, and I don't think she dies. She is rescued out of the lake by the spring witch, and I thought she then just progressed through the seasons until she reaches winter. I know that doesn't make much sense but it is a fantasy so I guess it doesn't really have to! Maybe the seasons thing is, as you say, a kind of other world, or 'parallel universe', because then at the end the snow hotel suddenly turns into the real hotel. I assume she's in her real body all the time.
Hope this helps, I haven't read the original Hans Christian Andersen story and it's been a while since I watched the film so I may have missed something.
I seem to remember she threw the boots Kai gave her into the river first, maybe they had something to do with it?

Bekky :)

didnt she sacrifice the boots because she loved them so much and she thought that the river would accept it because that is what she thought had taken kai's life.
I think the river accepted her plea.

Well, she threw the boots into the river and after that, she jumped off the bridge...

But this is just a fantasy movie - so don´t start looking for logic in there, there are no talking bears either, so if Gerda comes back to life after jumping off the bridge and floating down the river with her face under the water... it´s nothing special - just accept it. ;)

But this movie is actually for children, so I am just wondering what the kids think about this scene? They see a very sad girl jumping off a bridge, and she is allright after that? I don´t think this is appropriate for a kid´s movie...
