I don't know why this movie was rated so poorly on IMDB and I don't care. All I know is that this is one of the best teen movies I have seen. Each character was just as deep and real as the next, and I could see myself in a part of all of them. Some movies just capture what it is to be young and this is no doubt one of them. I don't know why "Happy Campers" is so unknown , but maybe it's better that way.
shareOther than lacking any sense of style, they also had waterballoon condoms. Condoms are not waterballoons. Condoms are durable and won't break on impact. Even air balloons full of water are likely to bounce off targets. That's just in addition to all more obvious things wrong with the movie.
shareIf you watch closely you'll realize that most of the condoms don't break, they bounce off. Only the ultra thins break. I think if you haven' been to camp, or anything like camp, you probably won't get it.

Not all teen movies are purely for Teens, heck I loved all the Pie movies, but this, omfg definately not suitable for intelligent adult viewing... Well, I was going to spend some time for a more detailed response, but when I noticed you loved the American Pie movies, I thought, why even bother.. Sticking your penis inside a pie, now that is intelligent.

nibblitz, dude, you can't compare American Pie to this movie. The Pie movies, as stupidly funny as they were, that's ALL they were. You're preaching about intelligence in movies, yet all that you'll find in American Pie are dick and fart jokes. You don't laught WITH that, you laugh AT it. And, fair enough, it serves it's purpose, but Happy Campers goes sooo far beyond that. I mean, anyone can laugh at someone *beep* a pie, because it's so ridiculous. But Campers, you have to "get". Appearantly, since you DON'T get it, you've had a very stiff childhood.
shareI agree with the original poster. This movie is hilarious and also, at times, very provocative. The plot not only provokes the viewer to laugh, but also to think about the effects of one's actions. Also, everyone I have shown this movie to has asked me why I didn't watch it with him/her sooner. I would say this film is leaps and bounds better than any of the American Pie films but, hey, that's just my opinion.
By the way, I was a counselor at a summer camp for three summers and I found some of the parallels sparked nostalgia.

I liked this movie. It's alot like Heathers in the sense that either you're gonna love it or hate it. I loved the pie movies too, but they are much more swallow than Happy Campers. This movie is a great dramedy(falls between comedy and drama.)

I agree...I saw it for the first time a few years ago and this film is what began my obsession with movies..some of the quotes in this movie were amazing and it is definitely a film that cannot be compared to any of the typical teen movies..At the same time as it is a far stretch from reality, it is a lot closer to reality than most displays of teen years...I LOVED this movie

shareI agree with everything said above, this movie was witty, intelligent, and hilarious. But best of all I love the bit in the end about a what it means to smile. I think there is a lot of truth to that. And the cast worked really well together. This movie really had a feel to it like Beautiful Girls... Anyway, awesome flick.

it's not the best teen movie but i love it... reminds me of those camping days. how i hate & love it so much... Sex is definitely the most discussed topic during camping.
i like the scene when wichita saw himself in the photo of wendy's mt.rushmore vacation. i know it's nonsense, i love it though.

I just caught this movie on Cinemax and I love it, it's going on my facebook as one of my favorite movies. I went to camp growing up and was a camp counselor, this movie brought back a lot of memories. I loved how the film was realistic instead of opting to have the happy ending.

But it had amazing acting and really captured you in their lives.
I saw this movie for the first time yesturday at 3:30 a.m. on a Friday morning.
In the paper it was rated a 2 out of 5 on the rates.

shareThanks Sundance. This movie is clever. There is too much clever dialogue, scenes, and characters to take it all in with one viewing. But there is no clever plot, so maybe that is the problem. But not an issue for me. If only that kid caught the pass... And chill on the whole Wes thread.

Suprisingly enjoyable but I'm with you all the way on that gjplimerick. If only that fat kid would have caught the football, "Happy Campers" would have automatically gained 50 extra credit points...
