Pretty good but 2 things kill it!

one: when she kicks her dads butt

two: when she kicks her boyfriends butt

It was pretty realistic until those 2 incidents happened, not that they're impossible but just unlikely.

Yea very unrealistic. Ok let's say that she can beat the hell out of her father. It makes more sense because he's older and he has no basic fighting methods and he's dumb. Any girl with basic self-defense strategies can overtake that jerk of a guy.

As far as her kicking her boyfriend's butt, unreal. He's been training so much more than her and let's face it. Even the most professional woman boxer can't never compete with the most professional male boxer. LOL....

Curiously, No-one raises a single eyebrow when JCvan Damme or Jackie Chan or Chuck Norris beat up hundreds and hundreds of guys, some twice their size, no-one ever says that that is unlikely. But as soon as a woman beats up just one guy it's totally unrealistic, not right, female supremacist, bla bla bla.

I agree with this statement. Plus, I really wanted there to be a reconciliation with her father. They just seemed to drop that story line altogether.

And the fact they made her beat the guy she was in love with ruined the ending. He lost dignity, confidence and respect for himself. How is he even supposed to look at her? So they're just gonna fall in love and she's gets to go on to keep training for better fights and he gives up boxing and goes back to being a grease monkey at the auto shop.

A better ending would be that she gives him a good competitive fight because he keeps under-estimating her then he finally begins to take her skills seriously and wins by split decision but now he and the whole local boxing community have a new-found respect for her because she fought with heart. A good Rocky ending that doesn't insult the viewers' intelligence.

Her putting him in his place was the reconciliation...her reconciliation at least. Life is not always happiness and roses. Her and her father will probably never see eye to eye. The fact that they left the relationship that way in the movie made it more real to me. I don't get along with my dad...barely even see him. We will likely never reconcile. Sometimes that's the harsh reality.

Well really, the film makes the question about boxing (and really, about life) if the physical strength or even preparation really matters in the ring -- I mean, yes, it matters to an extent, but your mind has to be there. Winning is about being smart about moves and knowing your opponent. I think it would've been unrealistic if not for the conversation Diana had with Hector about knowing Adrian on the inside, knowing his fighting style. She was being smart, not necessarily powerful. That's the basis of the reason why she was able to be accepted as a boxer in the first place; boxing isn't totally about brawn. She fully admitted that there were things Adrian could do to knock her out entirely.

As for the father, well... he didn't really fight back, either. He was just in shock because she went rabid! I was really hoping to see how their relationship would go after that... and now I'll always have to wonder. :(

Hmmm... your post has made me curious to see this movie.

I had read all of the comments on 'men being better boxers pound for pound', and with Diana's victory being implausible, etc. But boxing is a sweet science, so I have been told, and I'd like to see how this movie plays out.

wasn't the father drunk or something? i haven't seen it for awhile.

OK, I could accept her kicking her dad's A. She was a lot younger and looked like she was his size. Also, she'd been training and was probably in a lot better shape than him. Not to mention too that her new found boxing skills gave her a boost.

But yes, I agree that it was very unrealistic for her to beat her boyfriend, a young fighter who was much more experienced in boxing than she. Dumb ending, yes.
