Question on Final Fanasy VI advance.....

...if you don't know already, Final Fantasy V and VI are coming to GBA sometime in 2006.......well, at least in Japan......but my question is, will GBA do justice to these two games? (keep in mind i have never before played either)....but just judging that they are relatively newer than Final fantasy I-IV, I would assume that they would have some cinematics, which can't transfer well over to GBA.....can anybody give me any insight as to how the graphics are and if they could transfer well onto GBA?

reply

I think they'll look okay on the GBA, like most games that were originally 16-bit do. The remakes of FF1 & 2 and FF4 looked pretty decent.

Does anybody know when they're actually coming out for GBA?

reply

no cinematics back then

reply

They should look just fine on GBA, I cant wait to play them on my Micro :D.

And no, no release date atm.

reply

I hope the GBA version gets a much better script.

The playstation version had cinematics(2 or 3 videos). I heard the Gameboy Advance sound chip is not as good as the SNES version. I think it has something to do with how many channels of sound it has. People don't like the playstation version because of the load times but I'm playing it now and think its great.

The Playstation port is good, but the load times are pretty maddening if you ever played it on the SNES (I did, though I never owned it). I'm completely looking forward to its release on the GBA, back in the cartridge format it was designed for. The audio abilities of the SNES weren't all that great either, so if there is any difference, it won't be that much. It's all synth sound anyway.

I watched some demos of it on UTUBE and after extensively playing the SNES version I'm gonna warn you all - the GBA version is inferior.

The sound quality is awful and it lags in the menus really, really bad.

I wouldn't hold youtube.com to any real standards of accuracy, if I were you. Or if I were me. And I am. And I don't.

I've played FFIV Advance, and it looks, plays, and sounds just fine. I have no doubt that FFVI Advance will come together just fine. Even if the demo was actually glitchy (and not just distorted on youtube), it has a while before it's going to be released. Plenty of time for them to work out the port kinks. I'm not even a little worried.
