Here are my top 5 favorite RPGs of all time

1. Final Fantasy 3 (6 in Japan)

Hum, that's a tough one... hard to get some of these in any kind of order that really makes sense. For me, it's Ultima VII and others are sort of one notch below it in a jumbled mess.

Well, here are some of the games I've played *recently* in sort-of-kind-of interestingness order... and a very vague one at that, since many games have some unique things that are done better in others:

1. Ultima VII: The Black Gate (and Ultima VII Part 2: Serpent Isle)
2. Betrayal at Krondor
3. Neverwinter Nights (...plus the ex-packs and tons of good modules...)
4. Deus Ex
5. Final Fantasy VI
6. Ultima IV
7. Final Fantasy VII
8. Breath of Fire (...haven't had the money to get more recent games for GBA =)
9. Baldur's Gate
10. Nethack

Regrettably Final Fantasy games have this annoying tendency to easily drop from the top 5, because I'm a complete RPGhead and play so many *excellent* games...

...and here's a little bit of advice about the validity of this particular list: don't trust on some random inttternet lamer's (me) recommendations. Play what you want. But still, in the name of whatever gods there be, if you haven't played Ultima VII, you've missed a lot. =)

Oh man...this is tough...

1.Tie: Secret Of Mana | Chrono Trigger
2. Tie - FF3/6j | FF7
3. FF2/4j
4. FF1 (NES, the one that started it all)
5. BoF (the original)

Yeah, I'd say that's my top 5. Chrono Cross was a good game, but there are far better RPGs out there...IMO at least.

My favorite rpg is FF6. I like FF7 but I think it is over rated and they overlook FF6. Every one knows who Cloud Strife is, but most people don't know Locke Cole. In a mainstream popularity contest FF7 will always win.

Mine's these:

1.Suikoden II (the coolest game ever! It's like a combination of Harvest Moon and Final Fantasy. You will take care of your own castle as the storyline progresses. Hated the ending though..... but a great game afterall)
2.Final Fantasy X-2 (Love those games that has a girl as a protagonist. Very rare to see one...)
3.Final Fantasy VIII (Rinoa is very beautiful. And you have your own school to be your airship. Before you acquire Ragnarok of course.)
4.Final Fantasy VII (The story is great but the graphics is not.... Resembles like the Powerpuff Girls that have no fingers!!!)
5.Final Fantasy IX

That's all!

Top 5 (not in order):

* Ultima VII part 2: The Serpent Isle (I like part 1 but part 2 takes the cake!)

* Betrayal at Kronder -- excellent story, very challenging.

* Final Fantasy IV (II US)

* Final Fantasy VI (III US)

* Chrono Trigger

Honorable mentions:

* Final Fantasy VII

* Final Fantasy V (not so big on story but fun job system)

* Secret of Mana -- well not entirely RPG, but excellent all the same .. however if I mention this then I guess I have to mention Zelda .... well let's not open the whole 'adventure' can of worms -- secret of mana gets mentioned simply because it's squaresoft, an RPG company! ;)

* the sequel to Secret of Mana which was never released in the US .. Seiken Densetsu 3 I believe it's called? Anyway it's an awesome game, check it out if you can get it!

* Ultima VI (I know, it's not considered great by most ppl, but it was my introduction to the Ultima series, and I must've spent 100+ hours playing it, so...)

* Phantasy Star -- I played this on GameGear but I think it's the same as the SMS verson. Alis, Odin, Myau and Noah ... kickin' Lassic's azz! ahh yeah!

* Ultima 8 -- I wasn't going to list this one as it's a bit odd but I did see it through to completion, and it's definitely well made .. just a bit, er, dark .. and lonely .. and not much redeeming qualities to be found in the hostile, scary world of U8 ... I don't know, it just didn't have the warmth I found in the previous series.

I'm sure I'm forgetting some classic games ... I'll read what others have posted and see what I forgot to list ...

Mine are:

1) Final Fantasy 9, just because, I love the humour, the gameplay, the characters, the sidequests, and especially Quina!!! XD
2) Final Fantasy 4, because, this was the first Final Fantasy, that made me cry, many, many times. Like when Palom & Porom turned themselves into stone to save the lot. They were only 14...Real brave kids. And there is also alot of humour which made me laugh, the battles were good, and looked very cool. The story line was also one of the best.
3) Tales Of Symphonia, I really liked this RPG, its got a good story line, good characters, good graphics, good humour, but also, very upsetting at some points.
4) Final Fantasy 7, I really like this Final Fantasy, But I guess, at some points it pissed me off alot, and thats why its number 4.
5) Final Fantasy 6, I really liked this Final Fantasy, But...I hated the World Of Ruin part, which was annoying and just lost the plot there.
6) Final Fantasy 10, too easy, But still exleclent.
7) Final Fantasy 10-2, This was very enjoyable, but again too easy.
8) Final Fantasy 5, This was a good Final Fantasy, But at some points, Square lost the plot XD
9) Final Fantasy 8, Not my most enjoyable Final Fantasy, I didnt really like it much.
10) Final Fantasy 2, Kinda sucky, and Not very enjoyable, But there has been worse, such as Golden Sun.

Top 5 of my "RPG's". (pretty relaxed use of the term here, but oh well..)

1. Ultima VII
2. Fallout 2
3. Chrono Trigger
4. Hero Quest 1 (aka Quest for Glory 1)
5. World of Warcraft

Those are what I could think of in about a minute.. Final Fantasy VI & VII also are good. So is Mario RPG and Paper Marios. And Ultimas 4, 5 and 8. From some of the newer games, Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines and Fable are pretty decent. And probably lots of others, too...

ADOM rocks unbelievably much, too.
