Why Albinos?

I don't understand their significance to Carl. What does a lack of pigment have to do with anything? Is it because the bird he found when he was a kid white? Or is it supposed to be symbolic somehow?
The abuse he suffered at the hands of his father created a hated for women and a obsession with drowning, but where does a preoccupation with albinism come from? That was the only thing that really puzzled me when i was watching the film.

Purity and Innocence. The girls he abducted were all white and somewhat pale, but he used bleach to turn their skin and hair almost completely white. It was essentially a sign that the evil dude had not completely taken over, that the innocent kid still existed somewhere.

He was turning women in to porcelain dolls. White can have all sorts of connotations from clean or sterile to superior or innocent, it depends on what he associated it with, but my guess is porcelain, the original toy dolls.

White indicates purity. Stargher's trauma first occurred when he was being baptized in the river. Baptismal garb is all white. That's his MO. He drowns his victims in mock baptism. The bleaching makes them look innocent like they've just been baptized.
