Has anyone seen this film?

Rating says only 8 people have, or at least came here to vote. Has anyone other than the other guy who wrote a review actually SEEN this movie?

I have.
And I wrote a review.

This movie was flat out hilarious. I especially like when the mom comes in, and says, "I know what you were doing. It felt good, didn't it?". LOL!

I believe iFilm has it, plus you can rent or buy "The Educational Archive Vol. 1: Sex and Drugs," and it's included on that disc.
You have to see this film to believe it. They call developmentally disabled people "retardates."

this film was extremly creepy like a mad scientists idea for sex education

I laughed the whole time! I love this movie. Haha.

"I know what you were doing. Feels good, dosn't it?"
Why would a mother say that so calmly to her son? lol

I have seen it and I agree with the reviewer. It seems that many of the shots we see are simply filmed documentary style with actual mentally handicapped people. Which means that they (planned parenthood) would have had to have gotten written consent from a family member or guardian to allow these people to be shown on film. Wanna take a wild guess as to whether or not that was done?

Man, I have had problems with some of things Planned Parenthood has done/said in the past, but this takes the cake. Absolutely.

reply

Uhh, right. Things planned parenthood has done? This is a movie website, not some lobby forum. Besides, if I could count on one hand the amount of female friends I've had that've gotten help through Planned Parenthood, I'd have a crapload of fingers.

Anyway, I'm doubting it really matters. Being in movies was cool then; much more than it is now. They probably really wanted to be in the movie.

And if it's something they actually want to do, and is going to remotely help someone else, why the hell not?

reply

I wasn't referring to abortion, or whatever the hell you thought I was talking about. Planned Parenthood does alot of things. So maybe you should take a deep breath before ASSUMING you knew what I was talking about. Planned Parenthood does alot of good things and I admire much of their work. But they also have some controversial methods to get what they want.

Like with this. Despite your cavalier attitude, using people with mental disabilities in a film like this without their consent or (if they are deemed unable to consent) the consent of someone else's is HIGHLY unethical. You can brush it off if you want, but it made me uncomfortable to watch. It basically does what they are supposedly preaching against -- exploiting a population that has a harder time defending itself. I really, REALLy hope they got consent from the families of these people, especially considering it's now internet fodder with people all over the world (cruelly) laughing at some of the things said or done in this video.

And to wrap up, it doesn't matter to me that it's Planned Parenthood vs. some other organization that's doing this. Other people have mentioned their discomfort at watching what seems to be mentally handicapped people being filmed without full knowledge of the use of the tape. I am, in fact, allowed to express that opinion as well.

If you want to turn this into some argument over a perceived attack at Planned Parenthood, go ahead. But frankly you probably won't get too many arguments from me. Do you have any idea how many women I have referred to Planned Parenthood? How many donations I've given? But that doesn't mean I have to agree with everything they've ever done or will ever do. And this video is one of those things.

Wow, you're ignorant; you obviously didn't read what I wrote, did you? This is not the place for such ridiculous conversations, and it really just goes to show you that you're a sad, sad person with not much to do but make things up to make yourself feel better.

"I really, REALLy hope they got consent from the families of these people, especially considering it's now internet fodder with people all over the world (cruelly) laughing at some of the things said or done in this video."

Well, you're an idiot. You're saying that it's ok for someone ELSE to decide what someone wants to do, and that's more retarded than any retards I know, and my mother works at a special education center. Sure, "retard" may not be the nicest term, but they really, really don't care. And the only reason it's funny is more to do with the fact that it's very outdated and an archaic display of the medical world's view of retardation and other mental disabilities when dealing with a necessary topic like sexual education.

All things considered, I think it's very hard to deal with these types of situations in real life, and the only reason you thought people were only laughing at the actors is because YOU were laughing at the actors. You're alone. You're a dispicable classist and uncapable of thinking about handicapped people as real people instead of just some liability or something "to worry" about.

There was nobody in this film diminished to such a state that he/she would be unable to recognize a gigantic camera and gigantic hot lights as part of a film. There was also nobody in the film that seemed to be of such a state that they'd be unable to state if they didn't want to be doing something.

The laws in moviemaking, educational and otherwise, have been very strict since the 30s-40s. Just because you're ASSUMING how this movie was made doesn't make you right; it just makes you look foolish.
