Megan McCormick

Say something if Megan McCormick is your favorite Trekker. She's returning this season on the 'Silk Road' episode. I think the reason she took a few years off because she had a child but now that her child is 4 she's returning. Glad to see a familiar face return.

Aside from Ian Wright and Justine Shapiro, the other hosts are terrible. They seem like boring unfriendly trust-fund kids with no genuine interest in life-changing travel.

I disagree I like all the hosts. But especially Ian, Justine, Megan, and Zay. Whatever happened to that hottie that did Kauaʻi? Haha I doubt any of them had trust funds. If you read up on them they are people that learned life the hard way, aka school of hard knocks. Often that's a prereq for a traveler.

God I love megan, but I can't figure it out. I swear I've been watching her since like 2001 yet I see this greek islands episode, and she looks like she's still 23 or something. she seems not to age, unless this is an old one but it says 2013.

reply

Yeah Megan is my favourite as well

I noticed on Globe trekker facebook page a link to behind the scenes to the new Poland episode with Megan

She still looking pretty ageless and nice to see Globe trekker still going

after I posted that, I realized that what I suspected was the case, for whatever reason the date at the end of the show said 2013 but it was obviously an old episode unless she managed through some spell to not age in 10 years.

I went through a brief spurt of true travel in the late 90's going to turkey for a month on my own, then ukraine, poland, prague etc. had some very unique un-touristy experiences that I will never forget and this show really inspired me. every time they played that theme song and showed the guy drawing a circle it was just great. it's funny how shows like this and travel guides like this that start out as true independent travelers type thing become successful and turn into exactly what they were sort of rebelling against. or at least preaching against.

Rick steves whom I detest, started out as this backpacking guy going to cool places in europe as a young man and now he has this huge empire of books, clothes, guides etc and is this really self-righteous and very very annoying human being, plus he is now into politics as he walks through Europes museums in his dockers explaining how he washes them in sinks in the hotel's he stays at. yah right

Rick Steves is a turd burgler. He smokes pot though. Not that that means anything. Lots of *beep* smoke weed.

they're all the same mould.

Some of the unfamiliar hosts aren't so bad, but some are really bad.

For some reason I really dislike Zay. I won't watch any episode he does.

reply

Zay was not asked back once his 'adult' film past was disclosed. Very easy on the eyes, but so was Ian and he was way more approachable.

What was that, you said what? 😁
